A week of recaps (at least I hope)

I have been meaning to put up several recent events and just haven't gotten to it. So the goal for the week is to update each day with things from the past month that I had hoped to post. Since she will be 17 months in two days Sophie's 16 month update goes first...

1. Sophie is practicing sitting backwards (instead of facing and then turning once seated). Today she was trying to sit on the curb while we were outside.

2. She is very concerned with Jack’s crying and gives him his pacifier when he starts to fuss. (Aww.) But she also takes it out of his mouth when he’s not crying figuring he must not need it (Jack often feels otherwise). We repeat the putting in and taking out often. Very often...

3. She seems to be constantly eating. Her favorites: cheese slices, yogurt, dried cherries, bananas, pizza and m & m’s. Despite this she is still just below average for all her measurements.

4. She says “mmmmm” when you offer her food that she wants to eat but is completely skeptical of new foods and will clamp her mouth shut until you force the food in. Then she eats it all.

5. Says “no-wah” at least a hundred times a day. Her default response to everything is no, even when she really means yes.

6. Goes to the bathroom immediately when put on the potty chair and claps for herself. But doesn’t tell you she has to go yet.

7. Loves to watch the toliet flush (which is probably why she goes so well:).

8. Is way more of a climber than Ellie was. She is constantly watching Sesame Street from the coffee table and will try to climb in the bathtub the second you turn on the water.

9. Says “read” and will bring you books. Her favorites right now: Elmer’s Colors, The Monster at the End of this Book, I Love you Little One, Elmo’s 12 days of Christmas, and Lily’s Valentine’s Day.

10. She loves to spin around in circles until she gets dizzy and falls over.

11. Has 14 teeth, still waiting on the top two incisors.

12. Has been fighting bedtime (and sadly, winning most of the time) and is so proud of herself when she gets to come back downstairs.

13. Completely ignores you when you tell her no. Often laughs at you and continues on. Awesome.

14. It’s like she completely doesn’t exist when you put on Sesame Street. She doesn’t move (other than to smile or occasionally dance). She is 100% in the zone. You could almost forget she’s there.

15. Gives the best open mouth kisses and will give as many as you ask for.

16. Is so different and so very much the same as Ellie at the same age if that is possible. Some days its like complete deja vu and other days its completely new territory.

Quote of the Day

Ellie and I were in the playroom cleaning (or at least one of us was cleaning) while Jack played in his play-yard.

Me: "Ellie could you please help me clean up the art table?"
(in that exasperated mom voice I hate that I use, yet continue to use anyway)

Ellie: "But mom,"
(in an equally exasperated voice that I have told her that I dislike (because ellie isn't allowed to say hate and I of course set the perfect example :))

"I have to help Jack discover new things."

Really, how do you make her clean after that?

And it begins

In hopes of organizing our thoughts, memories and lives the jones family blog is born. Here we go...

Hoping to go 5-0!

I didn’t put Jack in this outfit for the Ohio State game in the Big 10 tourney, and obviously we needed it; every game he has worn it we have won! So Jack will be sporting this outfit (a la Bob Huggins) until its no longer needed. A special shout out to Aunt Holly and Uncle Rob for getting little Jack the outfit. GO STATE!
